To meet the demands of mass customization by building a flexible production system with ICT, Onward Holdings Co., Ltd. (hereinafter “Onward Holdings”) launched an innovative business model named “KASHIYAMA the Smart Tailor” in October 2017. To deliver high-quality custom suits to customers in as fast as one week starting from 30,000 Japanese yen, Onward Holdings constructed an ICT-driven factory in Dalian, China.
For this project, led by Fujitsu Limited, the Fujitsu Group pooled resources from Fujitsu Research and Fujitsu (China) Information Systems Co., Ltd. to provide end-to-end support for Onward Holdings’ digital transformation (DX), ranging from business process design to system implementation. The production platform for Onward Holdings’ Dalian No.2 Factory was built by Fujitsu (China) Information Systems Co., Ltd. (Fujitsu China). Fujitsu China has accumulated extensive practical experience in building production management systems for manufacturers in China.
“A prominent feature of this project was building a platform to interconnect systems from various specialized equipment vendors. During production, data flows into individual systems after referencing master data in the foundational system and customer order data. The platform built by Fujitsu enables seamless data exchange across systems supplied by different equipment manufacturers.”
“We always kept the client’s business strategy and all challenges to be addressed in mind. We proceeded with system development based on detailed information sharing with all equipment vendors. This is how digital transformation (DX) delivers the value pursued by our customer.”
Construction of the Dalian No.2 Factory project kicked off in January 2018. Following requirement validation, design work commenced in April 2018. After development and testing, the factory went live in April 2019.

This renowned Japanese department store selected Fujitsu as its overall IT system service provider when it entered the Chinese market more than 20 years ago. We built a full set of core business systems including its membership system. As business evolved, the traditional membership card system could no longer satisfy the department store’s requirements for refined marketing. Leveraging its self-developed digital marketing platform, Fujitsu built a new WeChat-based membership system for the client. The system connects the value chain covering member acquisition, consumer insight mining and precision marketing, delivering solid IT support for the client’s business growth and digital transformation.
